Halloween Thank You and Anti-Gala Fundraiser 2018

Close to 100 adults and children joined us at our Halloween party this past Saturday night.  Thanks to everyone for coming, for sharing the word about our party, and for your very generous donations.  The games were a hit and, thanks to your generosity, we had more candy at the end of the night than at the beginning!  We have shared your generosity with our neighbors at Second Union Church and  we will share the remaining candy with everybody over the next several days at the library.   Thanks for your amazing donations.  We are so grateful!  We hope to have many new members because of this party’s tremendous turnout and the great time that we shared together.

And now we turn our attention to our annual fundraiser.  Typically, we host a gala known as our Food and Wine fundraiser.  This year, after much thought, we have decided to raise operating income for 2019 in three ways.  We are calling these three efforts our Anti-Gala Fundraiser.  Why?  Because we want 100% of your donations to go to our 2019 operations.  In this way there are no expenses to absorb your contribution.  No caterer, no valet parking, no expensive outfit to buy, or babysitter to find.

And so, our board is reaching out to their business contacts in a sponsorship letter writing campaign.

We also launched a campaign on gofundme.com

And, we are conducting a fundraising campaign from our library.  We hope that our all of our members will support our 2019 operations with a contribution.  No amount is too small or too big, for that matter!  We keep our membership and other fees low, as we want everyone to be able to be a library member.  With an annual budget of $80,000, our monthly income of around $1,000 helps to support our operations.    But these fees do not cover all of our expenses.  The difference between your support and our expenses has been met in prior years with donations from private and public donors.  We particularly want to recognize Fundación Reliable, as their support has made our digital branch possible for the past several years.

We have set a fundraising goal of $18,000 for our Anti-Gala fundraiser.  You may make a donation by sending a check to our post office box*, by bringing your donation to the library, or by contributing at our gofundme.com campaign “Keep Our Library Open Anti-Gala.”

So, free up your time and support your library!  With your help our future is bright!
