Summer Reading Contest and Summer Break

Hurricane Preparedness for Children:  On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, we are hosting a coloring book activity for children.

This activity is the initiative of a Girl Scout who lives in the Washington DC area.  She has created a coloring book to help children prepare in a fun way for a hurricane.  She is traveling here to our library to debut her new book!

Although still closed for summer break, we invite you and your children to join us on this day at either 10:30 am or 1:30 pm. Come support a Girl Scout Gold Award project!

Summer Reading Contest:  Thanks everybody for your participation!  A total of 24 children and young adult readers turned in a tracker sheet, representing that a total of 304 books were read in six weeks or less time by our summer reading experts! There were 101 trips to the Treasure Box!  Many readers went well beyond the 10 books required and read 20 books in total!!!  16 readers completed the special projects which are now on display in our children’s area.  There were two lucky winners for the tablets!!!

We know that there are more readers out there who were not able to submit a tracker sheet–but, we heard you were out there reading!

Congratulations to one and all!  Reading for fun is a GREAT way to spend your time!!  We think that you are the special cherry on top of the ice cream sundae!  Happy End of Summer, Everybody!!

Summer break:  Our library will be closed beginning Thursday, July 18 through Wednesday, July 31.  We will reopen on Thursday, August 1 and Saturday, August 3 from 10 am to 3 pm.  We will return to our regular schedule beginning Monday, August 5.
