Fundraising, Halloween and Gardening

Our annual fundraising efforts are underway!  Rather than hold a gala, our online gofundme.com  campaign “Stronger Together” will ensure that your donation goes to our 2020 operations, not costly event expenses.  Join us and help keep San Juan Community Library strong for you and the many communities we serve.

Here is the link to our campaign:  https://www.gofundme.com/f/5vp5a-stronger-together. You can even use this link to share the campaign to your email, text, and FB contacts.  It is so simple and takes a moment to help raise the funds we need to operate for the upcoming year.
Donations may also be brought to the library or mailed to our post office box:

We will keep you updated as to our progress.  Thank you for loving, sharing, and supporting San Juan Community Library.  With your help, we are “Stronger Together.”

Halloween 2019 is HERE!  Join us Saturday, October 26 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm for our traditional Boocaplaa Halloween party.  Free admission for children of all ages. Fun and Games with Baked Goodies and Treats for Sale. Baked good donations accepted and encouraged!  And, for youth and teens needing community service hours, we can give two hours of community service for a baked good or tray of homemade sandwiches, etc.  Please call us, too, if you would like to sign up to earn community service hours by helping out at the party.  787-789-4600. On that day we will close at 12:30 PM to prepare for the party.

Gardening/From Farm to Table:
A long held dream of our library is coming true!  Thanks to agronomist Cecilia Díaz, we are hosting two master classes in gardening in order to raise funds to start community vegetable gardens at San Juan Community Library.

The first class is this Saturday, October 19 from 10 am – 12 pm.  Cecilia’s first class features strategies to enrich your soil.  The cost is $20 and all fees will benefit our community garden project.  We are planning to launch the garden in January 2020.  It will have its own rain water irrigation system and plots will accommodate both adults and children, as the adult gardens will be raised off of the ground.  This class will be in both Spanish and  English.  Please feel free to share and to ask your questions in either language.   Our thanks to Cecilia for her donation of time, talent and training to this project!
