Love Your Library Fest: In an effort to guarantee the success of our principal fundraiser of the year, your help is needed. The bottom line of this event will help to keep San Juan Community Library open and healthy in 2017 (can you believe that 2017 is just eight months away)!
We will no longer hold our annual Food and Wine Fest at our library. We are excited to move our principal fundraiser for the year 2016 to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. Due to the upcoming elections, we are also moving up the date to Saturday, September 17 at 7 pm. Our event is entitled “Love Your Library Fest.” Your help is requested to help with the organization of this wonderful, new event.
We want to offer all of our members the opportunity to ensure the long term viability of your library. Joining one of our fundraising committees for our “Love Your Library Fest” is a great way to help. Committee help is needed with planning decorations, obtaining Silent Auction prizes, Food and Wine sponsors, and Event sponsors, and in running the event.
Please take a moment to consider how you can become a community leader by assisting the only lending library in San Juan. See where your time and talents can take root and help to make a difference. And, then call or email us to let us know that you are here to help. This isn’t something you can say, “Let George do it.” You are George. In reality, we are a small group of members, but we take care of many people’s needs…more than 800 adults and children rely on our services on a monthly basis. Help us to keep free access to the information available in books and computers along with classes and meeting spaces available for us all.Thank you for your consideration. We hope to hear from you.
New Library Program: Join us on Saturday, May 7 at 11 am for our first children’s storytime with a canine guest. Children ages 3 – 6 will have an opportunity to both hear a story and to read a story to a lovely, sweet corgi dog. Stories will be in English and Spanish. Reservations required, as we have space for ten children. Please call to reserve your space by Thursday, May 5.
