Upcoming activities:

Reading Marathon: Join us Thursday, September 8 for the 17th annual reading marathon of the CELELI group of the University of Puerto Rico (Centro para el estudio de la lectura, la escritura y la literatura infantil). Official reading certificates will be available for participants who spend time reading at our library that day. Ages 2 – 16

Story and Craft Time: Our next story and craft time is Wednesday, September 14. Drop by between 11 am to 3 pm to make a craft celebrating the maritime (hint it’s yellow and can travel below the water). Ages 3 – 7

Library Book Club: We invite patrons 40 years of age and up to our new book club. This lively group meets on the third Thursday of the month. The next meeting is September 15 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. No need to read the same book, as everyone chooses a title to discuss.

Creative Writing: We are also the site of a new creative writing club in English for homeschoolers. For ages 13 – 18, this program will be offered for free on the 1st and 2nd Thursday of each month at 1:00 pm. The teacher is Cristina “Kiki” Morales. She asks that everyone bring a notebook and pen or pencil. Questions? Please call Kiki at 787-525-5786.

SAVE THE DATE: San Juan Community Library turns 35 years old this October. Celebrate our special anniversary with us here at the library on Saturday, October 22. We will host an open house that day, and blast from the past memberships will be available ($2 for an annual family membership). There will be a complimentary catered luncheon with live music at 12 pm.
