Thank you
Thanks to everyone who joined us this past Saturday at our 35th anniversary party. We had an amazing time!!! The music and food were spectacular and the book-making class was full to the max with enthusiastic participants. We had many new and renewing memberships and more than 500 books on sale have found new homes! Children came with their parents and enjoyed storytime along with Halloween treats and our drawing for a lifetime membership. It was a very special moment to honor the work of so many people throughout the past 35 years. We are grateful to each and everyone of you~~ Working together we provide our island with great books, information, and life changing opportunities. Happy 35th Anniversary, San Juan Community Library!!! May you continue to grow and to inspire communities throughout Puerto Rico long into the 21st century!!! Love, Learn and Play: Our next installment of Love, Learn and Play (LLP) is set for the first three Saturdays of November: November 5, 12, and 19 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Ages 11-14. This program was a great favorite this past summer at our Library. We invite young adults to join this opportunity for self expression via creativity and interactive activities. Sessions include painting, storytelling, poetry and games. Julia Vázquez returns as the program moderator. Julia has a background in education and over 20 years of teaching experience. Our thanks to a library donor for providing the LLP program to our library. LLP is a program of the Universal Enlightenment & Flourishing Foundation (UEF). The classes are free of charge. Book Donations: We are very grateful to everyone for their book donations. And we want everyone to feel comfortable to donate books. Due to some issues with boxes having bugs, including termites, we are no longer accepting book donations in boxes. Please bring your special books to us in small bags (not trash can size). Please remember we are receiving small donations of 30 books or less; we do not accept text books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, travel books, cookbooks or books with torn covers and yellowed pages. Nonfiction self help, business, and technological titles must be recent publications. Thanks to one and all for your understanding and generosity. We are grateful! Annual Community Meeting: Our annual community meeting will be on November 12 at 3 pm via Zoom. Please let us know via email if you would like to attend. We will send you the link. On our agenda will be the annual report for 2021 and the election of our 2022-2023 board members. |
