Another amazing activity: our thanks

Thanks to everyone for joining us this past Saturday for our first “Day of the Character.”  During our special event, we welcomed nearly 40 children and young adults along with 50 adults and parents.  We were very touched by the number of fathers who came with their children.  We also note that there were many princesses in attendance.  

Thanks to Lizette Martinez for an outstanding storytime.  Everyone loved her book Puerto Rico en el corazón.  If you missed it, Lizette has generously donated a copy to our library.  It’s already cataloged, processed and ready for checkout!

Our poet Nailah had several enthusiastic participants.  The custom poems were terrific and our children were absolutely enchanted by the use of an old fashioned typewriter.  There were some parents, too, who were seeing and hearing a vintage typewriter for the first time!   Nailah will be with us at our next activity.  You can also catch her at our next monthly storytime on Thursday, November 30 at 11 am.  

Thanks to everyone for filling out a survey about library services here at our library and other bilingual lending libraries in Puerto Rico (of which there are only a handful).  This survey was from the new Centro para el Libro de Humanidades Puerto Rico  It is not too late to help by filling out a survey.  Stop by and scan their QR code.  The survey takes a few minutes to help make a lasting difference.  We also want to thank  the Centro para el Libro for providing the delicious, piping hot pizzas.  We loved every bite!!

Thanks also to our library members for participating in “los viejos dicen.”  Your enthusiasm and joy are unbeatable!  Thank you for being a fun part of our special day.  We look forward to hearing more of your advice at our next activity.   

And, our thanks for your support, as our event raised nearly $270 from book sales, custom poems and memberships.  

Annual Community  Meeting:  Join us on Saturday, November 4 at 2 pm for our annual community meeting.  The meeting will be on Zoom.  Let us know if you are able to attend, and we will send the link to you.  A summary of our annual report for 2022 will be available.  Copies will be available at the Library, as well.  

November Schedule:  Open regular hours during the entire month, except for Thanksgiving week.  We will be open that week only on Monday and Tuesday, November 20 and 21, under our regular hours.  

We will be closed from Wednesday, November 22 to Sunday, November 26.
